Valentino Rossi memenangkan kejuaraan MotoGP di  Inggris dan mengambil kembali posisi teratas dari rekan setimnya, Jorge Lorenzo sebanyak 12 poin, dan Danilo Petrucci memenangkan podium pertamanya di MotoGP di posisi kedua di depan Andrea Dovizioso.
